Guide to Drawing a Five Pointed Star
Just follow the steps below and you will see how easy it is to make a perfect five-pointed star every time.

Five Pointed Star

  1. Notice in the graphic above that the red lines form a pentagon. A five pointed star is created by first off drawing a pentagon. But not just any pentagon. This pentagon must have all equal sides and all equal angles. To figure out the angle size, the equation is 3 X 180 divided by 5 (number of sides) = 108 degrees. All angles will need to be 108 degrees in the pentagon. Now that I have given you all the clues to your pentagon, get to work and draw a pentagon.
  2. After the pentagon is drawn, check your angles and make sure each one is 108 degrees. The angles in the above graphic are colored light blue. Each of these angles in your pentagon should measure 108 degrees. Next, label all your midpoints in your lines with a dot or short line.
  3. Draw a line from each of your midpoints to centers of the opposite angles. These are the black lines in the above graphic.
  4. You should be able to see how the star is formed at this point. Basically just connect lines from angles to your midpoint lines that you created in Step 3. These are the blue lines in the graphic above.
  5. You should now have before you a five pointed star and you should be proud of your accomplishment because you have created something that even gave the Greeks all kind of headaches.
